"In collaboration with ArtReach San Diego and Fletcher Elementary School, I had the privilege of leading a mural project for the school's library.
Following ArtReach San Diego's process, I engaged with students through Q&A sessions where they shared their ideas for the mural's design. Each student contributed sketches representing what they felt best represented their school. With their input, I crafted a digital design that reflected their vision. During the initial stage of mural creation, students joined us to fill in shapes and apply base coats, fostering a sense of ownership in the project.
As the artist, I then added intricate details, bringing their collective vision to life. Inspired by my upbringing in war-torn Iran, where books provided solace and expanded horizons, I aimed for the mural to convey the transformative power of reading. I hope it serves as a beacon of hope, encouraging students to explore worlds beyond their own through the pages of a book.
